The Mizrachi World Conference ended its sessions here early Thursday morning with the election of an exective composed of four members. Those elected were Rabbi Meyer Berlin of Jerusalem, Rabbi Aaron Teitelbaum of New York, Rabbi J. L. Fishman of Jerusalem and Mr. Daniel Pinkus of Jerusalem. The latter was charged with responsibility for the financial and economic affairs of the organization.
A general council of forty-eight members was elected, including the following from the United States: Gedaliah Bublick. Rabbi Wolf Gold, Baruch Schnur, Rabbi Jacob Levinson, Mr. Samuel Wilner, Abraham Cohen, Harry Karp and Rabbi Israel Rosenberg.
A budget to carry on the organiation’s work was adopted, calling for an expenditure of £31,836 with an estimated income directly from the Mizrachi federations of £29,900. Together with the subsidy from the Zionist World Executive, the budget will amount to £65,000. The conference decided to enlarge the quotas allocated to the individual Mizrachi federations which participate in the Keren Eretz Israel. The quota for the American federation was set at £23,000. A delegation consisting of prominent Mizrachi leaders will leave for the United States shortly after the high holidays.
The resolutions adopted at the concluding session dealt with a variety of questions. One resolution provides for the creation of a separate organization of Mizrachi school youth, another outlines a plan for the establishment of a Mizrachi publishing company with a capital of £5.000 for the purpose of issuing religious books. The conference adopted a resolution of protest against the Zionist Executive for curtailing the Zionist Executive’s subsidy for Mizrachi education work.
In a special resolution, the conference expressed approval of the stand taken by the Mizrachi representatives during the recent session of the Zionist General Council in Berlin on the question of the Jewish Agency. Simultaneously a resolution was adopted urging the incoming Executive to “defend the interests of Orthodox Jewry in the extended Jewish Agency. An appeal was made by the conference to all factions of Palestine Jewry to disregard the advice of the ultra-Orthodox Agudath Israel and to join the Keneseth Israel, the official body of the Palestine Jewish Community, as it will be set up under the provisions of the recently promulgated Palestine Communities Ordinace.
