Presidents of leading hospitals in the city joined last night in paying tribute to Montefiore Hospital, which will celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of its founding with a dinner tonight at the Waldorf-Astoria.
Professor Albert Einstein is expected to head the list of notables who will attend the dinner.
The steady march of progress and expansion which led from Montefiore’s humble beginnings as a small home for “incurable invalids,” to its present position as a leading hospital for chronic diseases was the theme of messages received from prominent personages. Statements from Dean Sage, president of the Presbyterian Hospital; Thomas S. McLane, president of the Roosevelt Hospital; Dr. Arthur F. Chace, president of the New York Post-Graduate Medical School and Hospital; George Blumenthal, president of the Mount Sinai Hospital; Karl Eilers, president of the Lenox Hill Hospital; Howard S. Cullman, president of the Beekman Street Hospital; Charles D. Halsey, president of Flower Hospital-New York Homeopathic Medical College, and David H. McAlpin Pyle, president of the United Hospital Fund, lauded Montefiore Hospital.
