Funeral services were held here today for Mrs. Ethel Agron, widow of Jerusalem’s late Mayor Gershon Agron, who died Friday at the Iehilev Hospital in Tel Aviv after a long illness. She was 78. Mrs. Agron was a native of Baltimore, Md., and was an honor graduate of Goucher College there. She came to Palestine with her husband in 1923.
Mr. Agron was the founder, editor and publisher of the Jerusalem Post, originally the Palestine Post, the country’s only English-language daily newspaper which commenced publishing in 1932. Mrs. Agron served for many years as chairman of the Hadassah Council in Israel Following her husband’s death she moved to Tel Aviv.
