Mrs. Joseph C. Gayl, national president of Women’s American Ort, died here last night at the age of 51. Mrs. Gayl’s presidency of the women’s arm of the organization dedicated chiefly to vocational training, was a period of significant expansion in which the membership doubled.
After serving for many years as president of the Philadelphia chapter of Women’s Ort, Mrs. Gayl was named chairman of the national organization’s executive committee in 1957. The following year, she was elected national president, and was re-elected to that post last October.
In 1960, she headed a Women’s American Ort delegation to North Africa, the Middle East and Europe.
