Premier Golda Meir appealed to the public yesterday to assist police in their investigation of a campaign of harassment and death threats being waged by religious zealots against pathologists who perform autopsies in public hospitals. The problem was discussed at yesterday’s Cabinet meeting. A statement issued in Mrs. Meir’s name declared that all necessary steps would be taken to “root out this phenomenon.” The statement pledged that the government would bring the full weight of the law to bear against “hooligans engaged in terror.”
