Mrs. Meir, in meeting with the Soviet diplomats, handed them Israel’s reply to the letter from Soviet Premier Khrushcev sent to all heads of governments which asked them to agree to refrain from the use of force in setting border disputes. Israel’s reply stressed that Israel welcomed the idea which Israel had been urging for many years, The Israeli reply pointed out that Israel believed that the principle was applicable to the Middle East and that Israel was ready to contribute toward ensuring peace in the area.
