Premier Golda Meir told an audience today at the Tel Aviv Labor Council Club that America’s pro-Israel policy would persist regardless of who is elected President next month “because of the sympathy of the American people to Israel’s cause” as reflected in both houses of Congress. Mrs. Meir said in reply to questions that “current American policy holds that it is not possible to impose a solution on Israel which the US considers to be against the interests of Israel’s security.” She said this was “a tremendous thing,” but added, “I do not want my remarks to be interpreted as an attempt at undue interference in the US elections.
