The cornorstone for a $600,000 YM-YWHA Community Center was laid here yesterday at a ceremony addressed by Mayor William H. Hussey and other city officials. Speakers also included Jacob A. Bernstein, president of the Mount Vernon Jewish Community Center; Rabbi Aaron H. Blumenthal, president of the local Synagogue Council; and the Rev. Melvin J. Joachim, president of the Mount Vernon Council of Churches, who spoke in behalf of the Christian community.
