Notwithstanding the ban on shipment of arms and ammunition to Arab countries, a transport of 8,000 rounds of shotgun ammunition was discovered today at a Jersey City pier marked for shipment tomorrow to a firm in Damascus, capital of Syria, where Arab unites are being trained for guerrilla fighting in Palestine.

Addressing a closed session of the national executive of the Zionist Organization of America, Dr. Emanuel Neumann, president, tonight declared that the American Government had played into the hands of the Arabs by proclaiming an arms embargo “which tends to deprive the Jews of Palestine of military equipment, placing them at the mercy of Arab bands.”

He appealed to the United States to modify the embargo so as “to make arms available to those who are fighting to uphold the U.Nl decision and deny it to those who are conspiring to defeat it.” Mayor Israel Rokach of Tel Aviv, addressing the session, also pleaded for lifting the U.S. ban on arms to the Jews in Palestine.
