A musical festival will be given for the benefit of the Jewish National Fund at Carnegie Hall Sunday evening.
Toscha Seidel, violinist; Mischa Levitzki, pianist; and Victor Chenkin, who sings songs of many nations, for the first time will appear on one program. During the concert, described as “an evening of universal and Jewish music,” performers will offer the following selections:
Toscha Seidel: Arioso, Bach; Humoresque, Tor Aulin; Hungarian Dance No. 2. Brahms; Berceuse, Cui; Norwegian Dance, No. 1. Halvorsen; and Polonaise No. 1 in D Major, Wieniawski.
Mischa Levitzki: Nocturne F Sharp Major, Chopin; Scherzo C Sharp Minor, Chopin; Jeux d’eau, Ravel; Arabesque Valsante (new), Levitzki; and La Campanella, Paganini-Liszt.
Victor Chenkin: Jewish Songs: Hebrais Lamentation (New), music by I. Gorochov; “Dudele,” music by J. Strimer; “Kadish”; “Ai, Ai, Ai;” “At the Rabbi’s Table” (new); “Wedding Song” (new). Gypsy Songs: “Troyka;” “What Sense to Fall in Love;” “High Felt Boots;” “Gypsies were Driving,” and “Sharaban.”
A city-wide committee headed by Clarence Y. Pailitz and Dr. Ferdinand Sonneborn as co-chairmen is sponsoring a concert, proceeds of which will be devoted to the acquisition of land in Palestine as the property of the Jewish people.
