Religious units of Nahal, the Israeli paramilitary organization whose members combine the functions of soldiers and settlers, will be established in the Old City of Jerusalem to work on the restoration of the Jewish quarter there, Mayor Teddy Kollek announced today. The quarter had been destroyed by the Jordanians. Mayor Kollek said its restoration would be undertaken with “special care,” in order to avoid changing the general character of the area.
