The charge that the Jewish people are not fully living up to their commitments and obligations to Israel was made here this week by Mr. Nahum Goldmann, chairman of the American section of the Jewish Agency, at a crowded meeting sponsored by the Zionist Organization of Canada.
Dr. Goldmann declared that although it was understandable that the Jewish people greeted the establishment of the Jewish state with enthusiasm and consider its victory over the invading Arabs and its admission to the U.N. as evidence of great progress, they were not justified in assuming that the foundations of the state have been secured. He insisted that every Jew must still make great efforts to help Israel (##) in its present economic crisis through larger financial contributions, investments and the immigration of pioneers.
