Gamal Abdel Nasser’s widely publicized “Arab Socialism,” announced recently through steps toward confiscating property of rich, “reactionary” Egyptians, may turn out to be no more than a new drive to rob the property of the few remaining Jews and of others considered “foreigners” by the Egyptian dictator, according to Cairo dispatches received here today.
A week ago, the Egyptian regime announced the sequestration of property from 167 “reactionaries”–many of whom were Jews, Greeks and anti-Nasser Lebanese. To day’s dispatches from Cairo report that a second wave of confiscations is about to be announced. Once more, the reports indicate, the victims include the same categories–Jews, Greeks and Lebanese.
