Grants to 20 graduate students and scholars for the next academic year were awarded by the National Foundation for Jewish Culture at a meeting here this weekend. The students are working toward degrees at Brandeis University, Columbia University, the University of California, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Minnesota, New York University, Yale University, and Yeshiva University.
Most grants are for completion of doctoral degrees in specialized studies or in general fields where specialization deals with Jewish subject matter. Scholars who are being assisted are preparing manuscripts or are engaged in research which is expected to bring new information to the field of Jewish learning and spans the periods from ancient to modern time. Edwin Wolf 2nd of Philadelphia is president of the Foundation; Edwin Rosenberg of New York is treasurer and Dr. Judah J. Shapiro of New York is secretary.
