A public opinion poll published in today’s Maariv shows that 31. I percent of the population favors a national unity government headed by the Labor Alignment, 26. I percent would like to see such a unity government headed by Likud, and 16.3 percent would like a national unity government headed by Labor and Likud in rotation.
Asked about a restricted and possibly minority government, 10.3 percent favored a narrow coaltion under Labor and 6.9 percent would like one under the Likud. Asked about new elections, 53.2 percent said they thought they should not be held, while 35.5 percent favored early elections.
