President Yitzhak Navon said today he intends to focus his time and efforts on Jewish youth and intellectuals abroad, seeking to draw them towards Zionism and Israel. He said these were two key groups, and he felt he could contribute to the existing channels of communication between them and Israel. Speaking at a luncheon in his honor given by the Newspaper Editors Committee, Navon said he was concerned about theses being posited in the diaspora in recent years that a Jewish culture could flourish in the diaspora independently of Israel. Meanwhile, the 57-year-old chief of state, who was inaugurated Monday, slept last night in a concrete security bunker at Dovev, a settlement near the Lebanese border. He visited Dovev and nearby Avivim in order to experience living conditions in border settlements.
