The German occupation authorities in Latvia are attempting to secure valuables seized by Germans when the Jews in the country were either deported or exterminated, it was indicated in a recent order appearing in the Deutsche Zcitung in Ostland, which is published in Riga.
An ordinance of the Reichs Kommissar for Ostland provides that all persons holding property formerly belonging to Jews or owing money to Jews must register such goods or debts with the authorities before the end of this month. Reports reaching here from Latvia in the past year indicated that the Germans in the country stole what ever they could from the homes of Jews who were arrested or executed.
