All persons in Serbia holding property which has been obtained from Jews since April 6, 1941, the day Hitler invaded Yugoslavia, or who owe debts-to Jews, are required to submit details of such transactions to the Nazi occupation authorities within a month, in an order published in Novo Vreme, a Nazi-controlled Serbian paper, reaching here today.
The new decree, which applies to Jews and Gypsies, covers all contracts concluded since April 6, last year, even if made without any intention of evading the law. It declares that all transactions between Serbs and Jews, even those concluded before the Nazi invasion, are null and void. Any contract or agreement entered into with intent to evade the anti-Jewish laws will be severely punished.
The extent of German-fostered anti-Jewish propaganda in Serbia is disclosed in an announcement by Milan Neditch, premier of Nazi-held Yugoslavia, also appearing in the Novo Vreme, that 100,000 copies of five different anti-Semitic pamphlets have been distributed throughout Serbia since November 1, 1941.
