The deportation from the Reich to Poland of all Jews under 80 years of age will be concluded by the end of January, the Gotesborg Posten, a Swedish newspaper reports today from Berlin.
The paper also reports the appointment today of Count Helldorf, chief organizer of the Berlin pogrom against Jews on November 10, 1938, as Nazi Commissar for Kharkov, capital of the Soviet Ukraine. Helldorf was formerly Chief of Police in Berlin, and is known for his anti-Jewish terrorist activities.
The anti-Jewish campaign in the Nazi press is being pursued relentlessly, matching in savagery and viciousness the campaigns conducted against people accused of economic sabotage or high treason, the Swedish press reports, quoting German newspapers. One of these papers, Schleswig-Holsteinische Zeitung, writes that the synagogue in Offenbach has been converted by the local Nazi authorities into a moving picture house.
