Emboldened by Germany’s economic difficulties and undeterred by the presence in Berlin of the American secretary of state Stimson or the British Premier MacDonald, a band of Nazi storm troops yesterday attacked and maltreated Jewish pedestrians in the heart of the Friedrichstrasse district not far from the Nazi headquarters in Hedemannstrasse.

The disturbance, which took place shortly after the reception of Premier MacDonald, occurred in one of the busiest parts of the city at midday. The latest outbreak of anti-Jewish violence is causing serious concern in the business world and in Jewish circles.
