The National Democratic Party, the neo-Nazi group that recently scored impressive elections gains in Bavaria and Hesse, has instituted a test case to establish the right of its members to belong to trade unions.

The party maintains that unions should not be permitted to make political differentiations among members. Some unions maintain they will not accept non-democratic elements. A leader of the powerful German Clothing Workers Union announced last week that his organization has expelled four members because they had joined the NDP.
