–The 800 or more candidates who sought election to the House of Representatives have not only declared against relaxing the immigration restrictions, but most of them are demanding more restrictions, it was averred by Congressman Albert Johnson, Chairman of the House Immigration Committee, in a statement issued here. Furthermore, he added, the members of Congress can have more restriction if they “do not pander to organized minorities.” In the statement, Congressman Johnson announced that the House Committee on Immigration will meet in Washington to consider proposed legislation to restrict immigration from Mexico.
“What a wonderful thing for the nation, if the President, before retiring, could sign an act regulating immigration on this hemisphere, thus making a full program for the future unification of the American nation for all time,” Johnson declared.
