A new suburb for Orthodox Jews, Kiryat Matersdorf, is being established on the west side of Jerusalem by Rabbi Shmuel Arnfeld and followers from New York, the Jewish Agency reported today. Rabbi Arnsfeld was formerly the head of the Matersdorf Yeshiva in Austria, and now is head of the Hatan Sofer Yeshiva of New York.

The new suburb will have 400 housing units, 250 of which are scheduled to be finished by next fall. The suburb also will have a yeshiva, which will provide study and housing facilities for hundreds of students.
