The new abattoir that is to be built in Tel Aviv will cost $50,000. It is estimated that the municipality of Jaffa will lose between ten and fifteen thousand pounds annually owing to the fact that the Jews will discontinue slaughtering in Jaffa.
Some weeks ago the Jews of Tel Aviv went on a meat strike when the government declined to permit them to slaughter in a temporary abattoir in Tel Aviv and insisted that the slaughtering be done in Jaffa, as it had been done before the riots. After lengthy negotiations, the government finally granted a permit for the construction of a permanent abattoir in Tel Aviv.
