New U.N. Truce Chief Pledges to Implement Israel-arab Armistice Pacts

Maj. Gen. Car. C. von Horn, newly appointed Chief of Staff of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization, will leave for his new headquarters in Jerusalem March 19, he revealed here today.

Gen. von Horn stressed that he “knows nothing about politics” but pledged to do his best in the politically complex job of implementing the uneasy armistice agreements in Palestine. The Swedish military man succeeds Canadian Lt. Gen. E. L. M. Burns who resigned the UNTSO post but remains commander of the UN Emergency Force in Sinai and the Gaza Strip.
