The Hebrew Home for the Aged in Riverdale, announced today that it has been awarded a grant of $180, 000 by the National Institute of Health, Education and Welfare. This money is to be used for a three-year demonstration Sheltered Workshop Program.
The workshop program is a means by which residents are enabled to earn money for work which is carried on under the supervision of personnel specially trained in this field. The terms of the grant also specify that a careful and scientifically rigorous study be made of the impact of the program on the residents and on the administrative structure of the Home.
