The American Federation of Retail Kosher Butchers threatened a shutdown of 3,400 retail kosher meat markets in the New York area today unless the authorities act to eliminate an alleged huge black market in kosher meat. A meeting of butchers yesterday was told that most of the meat available at wholesale markets here was at black market prices. Consumer resistance to high prices, they complained, prevented them from passing the costs on.
