Mayor Robert F. Wagner proclaimed the month of October today as “Histadrut Month” in New York City to commemorate the founding forty years ago of the Israel Histadrut Campaign.
The Mayor’s proclamation was issued during a meeting at City Hall between Mr. Wagner and a delegation representing the National Committee for Labor Israel, which sponsors the campaign. The delegation, headed by Joseph Schlossberg, president of the Committee, said Dr. Sol Stein, executive director, also included Kalmen Tarief, leader of the Druse community in Israel, currently visiting this country as a guest of the State Department.
A declaration hailing the work of the National Committee for Labor Israel was issued today by New York Senators Jacob Javits and Kenneth Keating and 13 members of the House of Representatives. The Congressmen signing the declaration were: Reps. Paul A. Fino, Leonard Farbstein, John M. Murphy, Benjamin S. Rosenthal, John J. Rooney, Abraham J. Multer, James J. Delaney, Emanuel Celler, Jacob H. Gilbert, Adam Clayton Powell, Joseph P. Addabbo, James C. Healey and Edna F. Kelly.
