A history of the Jew as a warrior from the beginning of recorded history through the present war is one of the highlights of the ninth volume of the Universal Jewish Encyclopedia issued today. The volume, which includes subjects between the alphabetical categories of “Prosbul” and “Speyer” is dedicated to the late Justice Louis D. Brandeis.
In addition the volume includes 1,130 brief biographies of famous Jews and non-Jews, documented surveys of the Jewish communities of hundreds of cities in all parts of the world and articles on a variety of other subjects. The tenth and last volume of the encyclopedia will appear within a short time, it was announced by Rabbi Isaac Landman, editor of the work, and Louis Rittenberg, executive editor.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
