Noted Jewish Composer Dies in Rome at 81

The Jewish composer, Tommaso Montefiore, has died here at the age of 81. His operas, particularly “Cecilia,” enjoyed the greatest popularity. He was an Honorary Member of the musical academies in many countries, and his work was internationally recognized.

Tommaso was closely related to the late Sir Moses Montefiore.
