The Brooklyn Link of the Order of the Golden Chain will be instituted this Saturday, March 1, at Arion Pythian Temple, Brooklyn, by Most Worthy Matron Lillian S. Kaphan and her staff of officers. The Order of the Golden Chain is a non-sectarian fraternal order, national in scope, and having the same Masonic affiliation requirements as the Order of the Eastern Star.

The Order came into being less than a year ago as a result of the secession of the Jewish delegates at the annual session of the Order of Eastern Star, State of New Jersey, held last summer in Atlantic City. A petition had been presented by the delegates representing more than 10,000 Jewish members of the Order, praying that certain ritualistic forms and ceremonies be modified and eliminated, so that the strictly Christian features of the Order would be more acceptable to those of the Jewish faith. After a lengthy debate, the request was almost unanimously denied, and as a result the Order of the Golden Chain was organized.

The Brooklyn Link is the first Link of the Order in New York State. Many new Links are now in process of formation.
