Dr. Aron Syngalowski, chairman of the executive of the World ORT Union, left here tonight for a two-week visit to Israel where he will discuss with Israel authorities plans for the expansion of the ORT network in the Jewish State.
Dr. Syngalowski will present to the Israel authorities a plan for establishment of a special type of trade school for youth in immigrant work villages, a project for opening a technical secondary school and a proposal to offer trade courses at several yeshivoth. Dr. Syngalowski will also participate in a conference in Israel of vocational training instructors.
Meanwhile, the central offices of the World ORT Union issued a statement today correcting a false report that the majority of the students in the ORT schools in Germany are non-Jews and former Nazis. The ORT noted that of the 654 students attending ORT schools in Germany during 1945 only 67 were non-Jewish refugees, all of whom had been accepted only after a rigid check of their backgrounds. Funds for training the non-Jewish students were made available by non-Jewish sources, the statement noted.
