Orthodox Jews have caused several disturbances here in their determination to enforce observance of the Sabbath.

At the conclusion of services members of a synagogue on Rothschild boulevard gathered in protest meeting before an Engel street building where Jewish laborers were working. Joined by worshippers from the nearby Mizrachi congregation, the group eventually was dispersed by a British constable.

Another crowd tore down a taxicab drivers’ sign and attempted to attack the chauffeurs, who fled.
