Ben Garfunkel, president of Savannah’s Orthodox B’nai B’rith Jacob Congregation has been elected temporary Mayor of this city. Mr. Garfunkel, who will head the first Republican city administration here since the Civil War, polled the highest vote among the six winning aldermen candidates.
