Declaring that as immigrants entering Palestine under the protection of the Zionist Organization, the Zionist authorities will probably find employment for them, the Director of Railways refused to consider the request of seventeen Jewish laborers dismissed from services no longer required. The Haluzim had applied to the Government for unemployment compensation.

Arab laborers dismissed at the same time were also informed they were not entitled to compensation.
