An extra edition of the Official Gazette today announced imposition of increased penalties for owners, agents and captains of vessels smuggling immigrants into Palestine. A fine of L1,000 or a prison term of 8 years, or both, will henceforth be meted out for such violations of the Palestine immigration regulations. Illegal immigrants themselves, the announcement said, will be punished by a fine of L100 or a prison term of six months, or both.
