A day of protest, fasting and prayer was held by Rabbi Sonnenfeld and his adherents, against the proposed ordinance of the Palestinian Government concerning the foundation of the Jewish communities in Palestine.

This ordinance, which is now being considered by the British Golonial Office, has aroused a fear among Rabbi Sonnenfeld’s followers that the orthodox Jewish institutions and communities of Palestine will come under the dominance of the Zionists.

With the prayer “God avert the Zionist tyranny” the orthodox Jews wept at the Wailing Wall. Petitions against the ordinance were also sent to the Palestinian Government and to the Colonial Office.

Propaganda against the ordinance has been carried on by Rabbi Sonnenfeld and De Haan, the representative of the Agudath Israel in Palestine, for several weeks. When a delegation of the Agudath Israel came to see Sir Herbert Samuel on the matter, several days ago, they were refused an audience.
