Palestinian Authority police shut down a Hamas-affiliated charity. Police raided the Charitable Reform Association in Jericho and arrested three of its officers, the French news agency reported. Palestinian security forces said the charity was corrupt. Israel has resisted handing over full authority to the P.A. police in parts of the West Bank ostensibly under Palestinian control in part because P.A. officials until now have been reluctant to crack down on terrorist groups.
A sore point for Israel has been financial institutions alleged to be backing Hamas and other terrorist groups.
