Palestinian lawyers said they would try to overturn Yasser Arafat’s recent appointment of an attorney general. The head of the Palestinian Lawyers Union said the group intended to petition the Palestinian Authority’s highest court to overturn the appointment of Khaled Qidra. Arafat’s appointment of Qidra was seen as an attempt by the Palestinian Authority president to resist reform efforts.
