Palestinians and Israeli Arabs held a series of marches in the West Bank and Israel to protest confiscations of Arab land. Some of the marches in the West Bank turned into violent confrontations between Palestinian stone-throwers and Israeli troops. The protests were held to mark Land Day, a tradition that began on March 30, 1976, when six Israeli Arabs were killed during a strike to protest land confiscations in the Galilee.
