While working on the development of a spring for the extended Jerusalem water supply about ten miles northeast of Jerusalem, workmen have dug up a mosaic flooring which is believed to be part of an old Roman temple of sacrifice.
A small sacrificial stone about two feet high has been found there. It is believed that this was used for the immolation of animals.
The digging is being continued by the government Department of Antiques, which expects to find in the vicinity even more significant remains. Proof that there was a human settlement near the springs has already been found.
