“The philosophies of two Jews are now bidding for world supremacy— that of Karl Marx and that of Jesus. The Jew is the strategic figure in the present hour,” said the Rev. J. A. Johnston, minister of Westmount Baptist Church in a sermon on “The Jew in Prophecy and Current History.”
“Not only is the Jew the genius of capitalism, outstripping all other races in the wisdom of finance, but Jews were also the inspiration of Communism. Marx, Lenin and Trotsky were the Moses, Aaron and Joshua of the present Russian Regime,” he added, evidently unaware that Lenin had not a drop of Jewish blood in his veins.
The real triumph of Jewry, however, would lie in Zion, Rev Johnston prophesied. At present, he said, marshes in Palestine have been drained, prosperous villages founded and the desert made to blossom. The Zionist movement, in the minister’s opinion, is one of the most significant trends of modern times, both as a historical development and, in the light of Scriptural prophesy; as a fulfilment.
