Patrolman Sol Baumgarten of Traffic C was among eight policemen and one civilian congratulated by Police Commissioner Lewis J. Valentine in a ceremony at Police Headquarters yesterday afternoon. Commissioner Valentine complimented them for their courage in combatting armed terrorists.

Patrolmen Baumgarten and Francis Mahon, of the East Thirty-fifth street station, trapped a paroled Elmira convict in an East Thirty-seventh street rooming house and disarmed him after a desperate resistance.
