Paul Steinberg, the longtime dean and vice president of the Reform movement’s seminary in New York, died July 8. Steinberg, who was 79, served 50 years as the dean of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute for Religion in New York, the longest tenure of a dean in the school’s history.
