At least two Jews are known to have been injured following an attack by massed crowds of anti-Semitic peasants on Jewish houses in Suceava, Roumania, according to a report in the Vienna “Freie Presse.” Following the inflamatory speech of an anti-Semitic agitator, 4,000 peasants who had come to Suceava for marketing demonstrated against the Jews and the attack followed.
In the meantime a communique from the Roumanian government states that the agitation is directed only against usurers. The disturbances began in front of a number of banking houses. Despite the orders of the local authorities to the peasants to return to their villages they insisted on remaining in Suceava and their threatening attitude is creating danger of serious trouble.
