The Independent Order Brith Abraham, now in session here at its 63rd annual convention, adopted a resolution today declaring that applicants for membership in the organization who “publicly or secretly aid or assist the Communist program shall be barred from membership.” Louis A. Weissman, of New York, was reelected grand master of the organization.
The convention also adopted a resolution calling upon President Truman and the United States Congress to “take immediate steps to end the growing arrogance and ingratitude of the western sector of Germany.” The resolution added: “We must not permit a resurgence of German power that would result in another massacre of our people and at the same time forever destroy our American way of life.” The convention also adopted a resolution expressing wholehearted support for Israel and pledging help to “expand its democratic and creative life, which its people are building for themselves.”
