Petain Rule Not Fascist, Bullitt Holds

Disbelief that the present French Government could rightly be termed a fascist body was expressed by William C. Bullitt, American Ambassador to France, when he arrived here by plane yesterday. The envoy said that Marshal Henri Petain, French chief of State, was “thoroughly honest and straightforward” and was doing his utmost “to bring order out of desperate disorder.”
