Philip Guedalla, Famous British Writer, Elected President of Zionists

Philip Guedalla, the well known English author and Liberal leader, was elected President of the Federation of English Zionists at the 25th

annual conference, which took place here last Sunday.

The conference was opened by Mr. Goldbloom, a member of the Zionist Actions Committee. From the report read at the conference, it was shown that despite the economies practiced, the deficit of the Federation at the end of April was 450 pounds.

Upon assuming his office as President, Mr. Guedalla stated that the key to Palestine is in London, and the work of the English Zionists is more important than the work of any other group of Jews.

Nahum Sokolow, who was present at the meeting, delivered an address in which he denounced those who were spreading pessimistic views in the ranks of the Zionist movement, stating “If the Chalutzim had been pessimistic they would never have gone to Palestine, and the entire development of Palestine would be an impossibility.
