Arthur Lourie, Israeli Consul General in New York, declared last night at the opening session of the 11th national convention of Pioneer Women, women’s labor Zionist organization in America, that the “efforts of the Pioneer Women had enabled the Moatzat Hapoalot to carry cut its program of building houses for children’s institutions and homes for new immigrants–the women and youth–which today serve as models in the formidable task of providing housing for newcomer.” Over 550 delegates are attending the parley.
Mrs. Israel Goldstein, president of the organization, urged American Zionist youth to help develop the agricultural life in Israel. She declared that American women must be willing to lend their children to Israel to help train others in technical skills, speed and efficiency. She pointed out that too small a percentage of the new immigrants to the Jewish state were able-bodied youth.
