The Pi Lambda Phi award to “that American who has most courageously achieved recognition as a true exponent of tolerance” will be given this year to Prof. Joseph P. Chamberlain, of Columbia University, for services in behalf of refugees from Germany. For four years Prof. Chamberlain has been chairman of the national coordinating committee for Aid to refugees and Emigrants coming from Germany. He has also served as United States representative on the governing body of the league of nations high commission for German refugees, and is a member of president Roosevelt’s advisory committee on political refugees which was formed shortly after the forced Anschluss of Austria with Germany. The presentation will be made at the fraternity’s 44th annual dinner at the hotel Biltmore Friday evening. Two past recipients, mayor Laguardia and the rev. Henry smith Leiper, will attend.
